The Associate Director, Communications is responsible for developing, implementing and managing communications planning and public relations initiatives to build community and constituent support, and enhance the organization's national, statewide, regional and local reputation. This position is responsible for developing proactive strategies and tactics for early identification of potential and emerging issues that may impact the organization, and will engage the appropriate multi-disciplinary stakeholders to manage emerging issues before they become rallying points for external constituencies and leads crisis and disaster communications. The position is required to work closely with organizational leaders, have the ability to self-manage and lead projects from conception to completion. Must have direct and regular media contact and relationships. Must have experience communicating and handling issues in the digital and social media space, and have strong project management skills. Will work in partnership with the Customer Relationship Managers in leading strategy and project management. Serves as the Director, Communications when director is unavailable.
Bachelors degree required in journalism, communications, public relations or related field.
5 years or greater of related work experience.
Must have extensive crisis communications experience.
Must have government relations experience.
Journalism, communications, public relations or related field, preferred in a corporate setting.
Must have excellent writing and communication skills.
Must be proficient in current software, digital tools, photography and other editing software.
