The incumbent will be responsible as the Physician for the care of veterans enrolled in the Home Based Primary Care Program in Fort Rucker (Wiregrass). The Physician is expected to accompany the nurse in visiting patients in their home on initial evaluations. The Physician is to conduct Interdisciplinary Treatment with the staff. The physician will also work with the veterans and their families by telephone,necessary, on Monday through Friday when at the clinic, to ensure quality comprehensive care is available to all veterans enrolled in the Home Based Primary Care Program ad residing in the Fort Rucker (Wiregrass) catchment area.
*Serves as a key clinical resource for maters involving home based primary care services.
* Serves as staff physician.
* Provides comprehensive care for our veteran population such as diagnosis, care, and treatment of assigned patients.
* Provides effective medical treatment, consultation, and diagnosis upon request from other Services/Departments
* Orders lab tests, x-rays, EKG's and other diagnostic procedures
* Initiates or expedites requests for consults, special tests, or studies.

Citizenship of the United States. Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with Department of Veterans Affairs policy.
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Completion of a first-year residency, or its equivalent, approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which it was completed.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Experience: Board Certified/Board Eligible Geriatrician, Family Practice or Internal Medicine
