The Minneapolis VA Health Care System is recruiting a sleep physician for a position within the Section of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine. The growing Sleep Medicine program seeks a third board certified/board eligible sleep physician to join a growing clinical and academic program. The successful candidate should have experience supervising trainees such as fellows, residents and medical students. Experience in clinical or translational research in sleep medicine will be favorably considered, but is not required. A non-tenured academic appointment at the University affiliate will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications, but this position is a full-time (8/8ths) VA position. This position requires that 80% to 100% of clinical effort be in Sleep Medicine; a maximum of 20% of clinical effort could potentially be allocated to a different specialty (e.g. Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care, General Medicine, Psychiatry, Neurology, Anesthesia, Otolaryngology).
Duties and responsibilities will include:
· Provide outpatient, inpatient, and tele-health consultative services in comprehensive Sleep Medicine.
· Interpret data from polysomnograms, portable sleep studies, overnight oximetry, actigraphy, and other sleep diagnostic procedures.
· Supervise and direct personnel within the Sleep Center.
· Initiate and evaluate innovative clinical processes and programs in Sleep Medicine and TeleHealth.
· Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
· Supervise and provide didactic education to trainees, including medical students, residents and fellows.
· Support and participate in sleep research within the institution.
