Providence is calling a Biomedical Technician (Biomed Tech, Days, 1.0) to Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla, Washington. In this position you will:
Conduct performance inspections and perform safety and repair maintenance on complex medical equipment such as infusion pumps, laboratory devices, patient monitoring/telemetry systems, surgical devices, nurse call and other communication equipment, physical therapy equipment, etc. in accordance with manufacturer and departmental standards and procedures.
Perform major/minor repairs of complex medical equipment using manufacturer's recommendations, test procedures, diagnostic and accepted engineering standards.
Assist manufacturers and hospital personnel in planning, installation, and in-service of complex medical equipment and systems.
Adhere to policies and procedures in response to the environment of care and attend mandatory training as related to safety, security, infection control, life safety, utilities, medical equipment, emergency and hazardous materials.
Consistently demonstrate adherence to Medicare and Medicaid regulations which directly or indirectly relate to the performance and job expectations.
Participate in hospital and department specific practices to maintain a clean, safe and comfortable environment for patients and staff.
Maintain the security and confidentiality of data and information used in performance of his/her daily duties conforming to hospital policy, laws and regulations as appropriate.
Follow established policies and procedures to identify and reduce the risks of acquiring or transmitting infection.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Associate degree of Applied Science Degree in Biomedical Engineering or Electronics or military/technical electronics school certificate
Two (2) years experience in the repair and maintenance of major medical electronic system and equipment
Must possess a thorough understanding of schematic diagrams, biomedical analytical skills, initiative and sound judgment
Proficiency in use of computers and standard biomedical maintenance tools and test equipment
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Biomedical Engineering or Electronics
