The Central Texas Veterans Health Care System (CTVHCS) is recruiting a full-time Pulmonologist, preferably with Critical Care experiencein Temple, Texas. Clinical responsibilities include consultative services for inpatient and outpatient Pulmonary service, and the Medical ICU. Clinical responsibilities will also include Sleep consultations, management and follow up of patients with sleep disorders. The Pulmonary section is an active teaching section involving clinical training of pulmonary and critical care fellows, medical residents and students. Pulmonary section staff are performing state of the art procedures such as EBUS, ENB, Tunneled pleural catheter, Percutaneous tracheostomy and others. We have a state of the art 8 bed sleep lab in Killeen, Texas. Opportunities and support for research and simulation based training are available.
Other duties will be as assigned based on patient care needs and needs of the section, service and organization.
Work schedule and assignment can be changed to meet patient care needs and /or needs of the section, service and organization.

Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from an institution whose accreditation was in place for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are: (1) Schools of medicine accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) for the year in which the degree was granted, or (2) Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) of the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted. (3) For foreign medical graduates not covered in (1) or (2) above, facility officials must verify with the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) that the applicant has met requirements for certification, and must obtain a copy of the ECFMG certificate, if claimed by the applicant.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Completion of residency training or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. (NOTE: VA Physicians involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty status.)
Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Experience: Ideal candidates will have a strong interest and skill in teaching as well as be Board eligible/certified in Pulmonary and Critical Care because the Pulmonary section is an active teaching section involved in clinical training of pulmonary and critical care fellows, medical residents and students.
