The Blood Bank Section Chief serves as the technical supervisor and directs all activities for his/her are of responsibility. The section chief is responsible for all technical procedures, manuals, proficiency testing, and quality control, as well as the training, certification of competency and performance evaluation of all employees working in this area.
Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or a related science. Must meet qualifications for area of responsibility under CLIA regulations.
Three years of experience in clinical laboratory setting required. If not ASCP certified minimum experience requirement increases to five years. One year supervisory experience preferred.
Must meet CLIA guidelines for supervisory position, MT (ASCP), MLS (ASCP), or BB (ASCP) certification preferred if not required. SBB preferred but not required. If not certified, experience requirement increases to five years.
