Review care of patients (concurrent and retrospective) to assess for complications of care and adherence to published practice standards
Liaison with the physicians, nurses and ancillary staff regarding Quality and Patient Safety, and other quality/risk initiatives, including publically reported indicators
Develops and leads performance improvement activities as defined by organizational work plan.
Assists with the development and leads, if requested, system wide performance improvement activities defined by UH work plan.
Attends departmental meetings, as assigned, to serve as Quality Center representative and subject matter expert.
Develops, as requested, quality & safety presentations as assigned for presentation to a variety of audiences.
Performs tracer activity to assure compliance with all regulatory standards.
Serves as coach and mentor to staff regarding regulatory and other initiatives defined in Quality & Safety Work plan.
Communicates opportunities for improvement to unit/departmental leadership as identified.
Facilitates communication with leadership on organizational opportunities for improvement or unresolved OPI at unit or department level
This position will support Quality Initiatives supporting Surgical Services at the UH Community Medical Centers. This position will require moderate travel (3-4 days/week) to UH community medical centers based on needs.
Quality Assurance & Process Improvement skills
Minimum 3 years Quality Improvement Nurse experience
Minimum 3 years acute care clinical experience
Excellent written & verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills
Ability to lead complex multidisciplinary team effectively
Ability to develop members of the quality team
Strong presentation skills
Knowledge of Process Improvement modalities
Strong analytical skills
Ability to guide and influence clinical team and leaders
BSN (or evidence of progress within 3-5years)
Current RN licensure in the State of Ohio
Master's degree in related field
Project management skills/experience
Experience working in a surgical area (i.e. PACU, OR, Surgical unit)
