Lutheran Life Communities is seeking an experienced and proactive Chief Operating Officer to become part of our senior leadership team. Reporting directly to the President/CEO, this position plans, organizes, budgets and controls the services provided to residents to ensure the highest level of care and service commensurate with fiscal responsibility. This role contributes to the visioning and strategy of Lutheran Life Communities.
Position responsibilities include:
Coordinates the overall fiscal operation of Lutheran Life Communities by managing funds through planning, developing and contributing to the budget.
Responsible for conducting assigned dashboard by: Twice yearly, completes assigned dashboards within established timelines. Timely prepares and submits dashboard findings. Conducts scoring and feedback session(s) with the Executive Directors/Administrators and Facility Dashboard Owners. Conducts consultative session(s) with the Executive Directors/Administrators and Facility Dashboard Owner(s) on a regular basis (e.g. monthly), as necessary. Reviews dashboard measurable characteristics at least annually, revises as necessary.
Develops and monitors standards for facilities ensuring each facility is a clean, safe and inviting environment which can be utilized efficiently for staff, residents and visitors.
Ensures compliance with all licensing regulations and directives from licensing and regulatory bodies.
Maintains a harmonious working relationship with sponsoring and advisory groups (including federal, state, and local agencies) and other related service agencies by amenable and cooperative contacts.
Manages, through others, services and programs at all Lutheran Life Communities’ sites to ensure high quality care of and service to the residents, including healthcare, life enrichment, food service, admissions, environmental services, dementia care, plant operations, social service and Home Health, Shepherd’s Flock, and Community Programs. Manages and monitors all functional activities and provides appropriate staff to provide high quality services to the residents and community. Delivers services by planning, developing, implementing and monitoring current programs and identifying new service areas; avoids service duplication by coordinating and integrating programs with other agency programs.
Evaluates the work performance of each direct report by completing performance appraisals within the established guidelines.
Promotes a positive image of Lutheran Life Communities by ensuring that the public understands what program services are available, training volunteers, publicizing activities and accomplishments and conducting himself or herself professionally.
Contributes to the strategic planning of the organization by: preparing programmatic and financial analyses for guidance. Participates in senior management planning sessions and consults with Department Managers.
Speaks internally and externally and represents Lutheran Life Communities through memberships is professional organizations. Participates in continuing education to fulfill the Lutheran Life Communities mission.
Serves as a corporate consultant adhering to the performance expectations and standards as prescribed by the Servanthood Leadership Tenets and Consultant Code of Conduct.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
Seven to ten years’ related healthcare and/or senior living experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Nursing Home Administrator license required.
Must be willing and able to obtain Nursing Home Administrator licenses in Illinois, Indiana and Florida.
Demonstrated ability to develop and manage budgets.
