The position is located in the Dermatology Service of the VA Connecticut Healthcare System (VACT) at the Newington Campus. The incumbent will provide Dermatology patient care to our patients. Perform evaluations, consultations, examinations, diagnosis, follow-up, medical record documentation/record-keeping and correspondence. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
*Provide comprehensive dermatology care to outpatients, including evaluations, consultations, examinations, diagnosis, follow-up, medical record documentation/record-keeping and correspondence.
*Participate in electronic consultations (e-consult) and telemedicine consultations in order to improve access to the quality of dermatology care through tele-dermatology and related technologies.
* Perform minor procedures such as biopsies, shave biopsies, simple excisions, cryotherapy and intraregional injections.
* Provide appropriate education for patient and family members regarding patients illness and/or management of care.
*Work collaboratively with the primary care provider staff and provide dermatology training as requested.
* Other duties as assigned by the Chief of Dermatology.
Work Schedule:Monday through Friday, Flexible Schedule
*Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
*Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine
* Physician must possess a current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
* First year residency (Internship)-must have completed residency training or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of the Veterans Affairs for the year in which it was completed.
*Board Certified or Board Eligible Dermatology
Physical Requirements:?, Incumbent should be physically and mentally capable to perform the duties of the position. The position will require walking, standing or sitting for periods of up to 8 or more hours. Medical records are fully electronic. May also require reaching above the shoulder and repeated bending.
