Coordinates the activities of the Ultrasound Department, communicating and administrating area policies and procedures. Performs clinical and/or administrative functions necessary to the efficient operation of the unit. Under the direction and supervision of a qualified physician, the Ultrasonographer is responsible for the operation of diagnostic ultrasound equipment for the performance of all dynamic ultrasound procedures requiring a level of independent judgement-making ability ingenuity, and initiative, not requiring direct supervision. The Ultrasound department is multi-disciplinary; including abdomen, OB/GYN, small parts vascular studies (imaging and non-imaging) and echocardiography. The supervisor of Ultrasound contributes to teaching and in-services, strives to develop and enhance Ultrasound skills, should share call responsibilities, performs administrative duties, sees to the operation and efficient operation of the department, and regularly functions as a staff Ultrasound Tech. The supervisor strives to fulfill the mission statement of the hospital.
Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Registry eligible
Graduate of a recognized AMA program in Ultrasound.
Four year Bachelor’s Degree in a health care topic preferred.
Minimum Two Years Supervisory Experience preferred
