Prevention, investigation, monitoring and reporting of the spread of disease
Conducts education with patients and team members regarding infection control, protocol and policies
Uses scientific research to recommend, implement, and monitor policies and procedures for staff regarding sterilization, disinfection, and decontamination of personnel, instruments and equipment
Recommends equipment, products, and processes to decrease infection risk
Department/Unit details: A full-time (1.0 FTE) covers ThedaCare Regional Medical Center - Neenah, however all Infection Prevention Practitioners may cover any site within ThedaCare. The full-time Infection Prevention Practitioner will be shared among the system, with most responsibility at TCA/TCN. Call Frequency: Rotational, one week intervals, rotated among six Infection Prevention Practitioners so approx. every five to six weeks. Shift Time: Days, however shifts and hours of work may change depending on patient/business needs.
Required: Bachelor's in healthcare
Licensure Required: Medical Technologist or Registered Nurs
Required: Board Certification in Infection Control and Epidemiology (CIC) within 3 years
Preferred: Board Certification in Infection Control and Epidemiology (CIC)
Demonstrate knowledge and application of all regulatory agencies to ensure compliance for the delivery of infection prevention
Works in partnership with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement community health improvement strategies based on in-depth knowledge of evidence based practice, previous successful efforts and community partners
Interprets and evaluates data to improve quality service and patient care through process observation using problem solving tools to identify potential areas of improvement. Monitors surveillance data for infections using national standardized definitions per the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN)
Compiles and analyzes data. Observes patient care processes to identify trends, problems and areas of opportunity for improvement
Influences teams to follow standard work related to delivery of care in infection prevention
Provides expertise in the area of infection prevention. Redesigns policy, standard work and oversees the implementation of practice changes
