This position serves both Longview and Marshall CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Health System Foundations.
Plans, organizes and administers programs designed to generate financial donations and gifts to the hospital. Conducts programs to acquaint potential donors with needs of the hospital and with the benefits of giving to it. Establishes contacts with attorneys, trust officers and investment counselors to encourage and motivate bequests and memorials. Provides appropriate recognition to benefactors. Responsible for management of a Joint Venture or Foundation. Accountable for the entire department(s). Maintains knowledge of market/competitor trends. For Joint Ventures, has responsibility to both financial partners. The duties/responsibilities are as follows:
Provides leadership and vision to establish and maintain both short and long range goals for cultivation, stewardship, annual and capital fundraising, and planned giving that will increase the culture of philanthropy across all constituencies (including Associates) of CGSHS.
Serve on CGSHS leadership team including participation in the planning, coordinating, decision-making, problem solving and evaluation of health system activities.
Provide direction and supervision to staff; analyzing, reviewing and revising office procedures as necessary.
Directs the activities of the Foundation staff to assure that volunteers and donors needs are met promptly and professionally with great attention to follow-up.
Ensure department (staff and resources) is positioned to provide the most accurate information to hospital boards and Foundation Boards related to fundraising projects and goals.
Collaboration and coordination with the board members of both the Longview and Marshall foundations -- scheduling regular quarterly meetings, developing and recommending policies for approval by each board, and communicating ongoing activities and outcomes for each board -- including activation and engagement of necessary board committees. Serves as ex-officio non-voting member on both boards.
In collaboration with the Chair(s) of the Longview and Marshall Foundation Boards, design meetings that are meaningful and goal-oriented. Oversight of meeting objectives, agendas, presentation materials, etc., to ensure expected meeting outcomes.
Attends and participates in all appropriate meetings of the Foundation Boards of Longview and Marshall and active board committees.
Establishes targeted financial goal in harmony with each Foundation Board, the Northeast Texas Central Office and respective market CEOs.
Develop a well-rounded Foundation program consisting of the best-practice components of annual giving, foundation/corporation giving (private philanthropic grants), special events, major gifts, and planned gifts.
Responsible for planning, coordination, promotion and public relations of special events and fund drives to include major gift campaigns.
Builds relationships with donors and potential donors.
Coordinate with Northeast Texas Central Foundation Office for prospect research, portfolio assimilation and Moves Management progress related to identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of all major gift donors -- including corporate and Foundation donors.
Attend appropriate meetings with Northeast Texas Central Office team.
Coordinate with key health system and central office leadership to identify funding initiatives in alignment with the health system's strategic plan.
Coordinate comprehensive capital campaigns by recommending major prospect strategies and timelines based on needs and goals of clinical areas of excellence and designated service lines and bricks and mortar projects.
Oversight of donor acquisition mailings (direct mail) in collaboration with Northeast Texas Central Office.
Maintain membership in appropriate philanthropic associations (AHP) with intent to increase knowledge and expertise in all aspects of best-practice based major gift fundraising.
Maintain a high degree of motivation and superior work ethic consistent with the employment philosophy of CHRISTUS Health and CGSHS.
Financial and Policy Accountability
Align Foundation policies with Northeast Texas foundations.
Oversight of maintenance of the Foundation's financial records and required monthly/annual reports.
Oversight of process for maintaining of financial & donor records for Foundation
Prepares the Foundation's annual operating budget in collaboration with Northeast Texas Central Office and local market CEOs.
Administers the Foundation budget throughout the year to ensure compliance.
Supervises the deposits, recording and acknowledgment of all gifts received.
Develops and administers internal tracking and statistical reporting systems in tandem with the Central Office.
Maintains highest level of confidentiality related to all donations and assurance that funds are administered according to donor wishes.

Represents both foundations and CGSHS in the community by participating professionally and actively in civic, professional and service organizations, maintaining a heightened awareness to build close collaborations with other community non-profits to help insure that the role and mission of CGSHS are understood and supported by all community leaders.
Serves as a public speaker for meetings, host groups and individuals, to educate them on activities and issues related to CGSHS, the foundations and the greater health care needs of the community and region.
Actively participate in hospital sponsored events. Serves as representative for hospital and community activities/special events at Auxiliary Board Meetings and other community events.
Maintains consistency with Administrative and Departmental policies with appropriate behavior, dress, attitude, attendance, confidentiality, professionalism, and reliability.
Gives direction for all printed materials including newsletters and brochures.
