Organization: Health and Hospital Systems
Manages several large projects and maintains financial systems across the Cook County Health and Hospitals System (CCHHS). Implements and maintains systems associated with the revenue cycle across the network system. Oversees the completion of complex projects and system enhancements, applies vendor upgrades/applications and supports and conducts training of end-users. Serves as a subject matter expert.
Manages and monitors Siemens Patient Accounting tables and profiles within the guidelines of Medicare, Medicaid or third party payers to support revenue cycle for charge capture, coding, billing and cash collections.
Actively monitors and updates Siemens Customer Webpage and application/tools. Updates Patient Accounting on changes to CMS and State of Illinois billing requirements.
Validates the processing of claims and other transaction files between various entities that support the billing and collection process. Troubleshoots transfer failures and resolves issues.
Responds, documents and implements enhancement requests received from Patient Accounting and other users who request patient accounting information.
Creates ad hoc reports to insure system data integrity.
Evaluates and works on projects to automate current manual processes. Works with managers and end-users to automate processes between insurance carriers, vendors and external partners.
High School Diploma or GED (Must provide proof at time of interview)
Nine (9) years of work experience in healthcare financial systems or a related revenue cycle is required; OR an Associate's Degree and seven (7) of work experience in healthcare financial systems or a related revenue cycle is required; OR a Bachelor's Degree and five (5) years of work experience in healthcare financial systems or a related revenue cycle is required (must provide official transcripts at time of interview)
Three (3) years of work experience managing projects and/or implementations and working with Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is required.
Bachelor's or higher level Degree in Public Health, Computer Science or Management Information Systems from an accredited college or university is preferred
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics
In-depth knowledge of healthcare revenue processes including: patient access; charge capture; documentation and coding; billing account receivable; and cash collections. Subject matter expert.
In-depth knowledge of financial systems supported at CCHHS.
Ability and follow through to work with outside departments to improve charge capture.
Advanced project management skills and the ability to work with systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Advanced analytical skills necessary to evaluate financial data and translate same into actionable information to drive results.
Excellent customer service skills with acceptable response times to phone calls, emails and customer requests.
Strong written and verbal communications skills necessary to communicate concepts in a clear and concise manner to a wide level of personnel.
Advanced skill in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio and other software and hardware packages.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment and in stressful situations while meeting deadlines.
Ability to support/train less experienced personnel in the use of systems.
Ability to make sound judgments.
Ability to prioritize, plan, and organize projects and tasks.
Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
