The Enterprise Clinical Informaticist is responsible for analyzing, developing, coordinating and maintaining standardized clinical content supporting clinical ordering/documentation, clinical decision support, and quality/patient safety indicator reporting. This individual conducts research and analysis of regulatory changes as they relate to system requirements, operational needs and impact on clinical operations. Researches, develops, defines and coordinates testing and implementation for new or enhanced content, functionality, and/or technology for evidence-based solutions to optimize the use of electronic medical records. Analyzes processes and procedures and recommends process improvements to effectively and efficiently utilizestandardized clinical documentation, automated safety systems, and clinical decision support systems. In conjunction with Information Management, provides direct support to the system on implementation of clinical redesign processes as they relate to the information systems.
Manages, supports, maintains and develops clinical content in new or existing health information system applications, including but not limited to: ordering, clinical documentation and clinical decision support systems for all levels and types of care providers.
Co-ordinates the approval, decision making and communication processes that concern standardized content for all clinical and ancillary modules and systems within the organization.
Analyzes and evaluates current systems and procedures, both manual and automated, often with little or no previous experience with the application or process and recommends system design, work flow or modifications to optimize health information systems and processes.
Prepares and maintains project plans and timelines.
Creates or designs specifications for reports and other output from the electronic medical record for a variety of purposes as required.
Bachelor degree in health care specialty or a graduate of another healthcare designation (i.e. RN, RRT, RHIT, LVN etc.) in relevant field of clinical practice
Clinical informatics certification or 3 - 5 years' experience in informatics
Working knowledge of Meditech Client/Server healthcare information system clinical and ancillary modules(OE, PCS, POM, EDM/RXM, ORM, PHA, LAB, ITS)
