The Assistant Administrator will assist the Administrator in the overall delivery of high quality rehabilitative, intermediate and skilled care to individuals with disabilities in their community, under their direction and in a manner that ensures their health and safety. The Assistant Administrator will be responsible for marketing facility services, assisting in setting financial goals, educating staff, and setting performance goals for departments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Must be capable of regular and predictable attendance at a specific location in order to perform assigned tasks.
Assists the Administrator in overall supervision to management, includes interviewing, hiring, and employee development; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Participates in the development and enforcement of operating policies and procedures for the facility.
Acts as an advocate for the facility by marketing available services.
Reviews referrals for possible admission, verifies medical assistance needed for resident’s medical and financial eligibility prior to admission.
Communicates admission inquiry data verbally and in writing to the nursing department and Administrator timely
Responsible for providing education to management staff for regulatory and policy changes
Sets performance goals for departments to ensure regulatory compliance of the ICF/SNF, ICF/ID, ICF/PMI, and other established programs operation and to ensure that quality assurances are met in care delivery
Acts as a liaison to County Social Services and other agencies for client referrals and revenue inquiries
Assists Administrator in setting financial goals, preparing and adhering to the adopted budget, compiles statistical reports, develops and tracks financial reports
Performs the duties of the Administrator in the absence of the Administrator
Assures resident safety at all times.
Other duties as assigned.
Administrative and functional supervision is received from the Country View Administrator or other designated county official.
Administrative and functional supervision exercised over business office staff.
Core hours are generally 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday but facility is in operation 24/7, may frequently receive phone calls after hours; must be able to work outside of core hours if necessary

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Health Care Administration, Business Administration, or related fields, plus three to five years of management experience in a facility for individuals with disabilities required
Current Iowa Nursing Home Administration License preferred; must be able to obtain within 2 years from date of hire
Must have a valid Iowa driver’s license and be insurable under the County’s liability insurance coverage.
Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance requirements is preferred. Must be familiar with current and applicable laws and regulations concerning Medicare and Medicaid.
Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills and a professional work demeanor.
Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of resident’s protected health information and comply with HIPAA regulations.
Must be able to maintain good working relationships with outside agencies as well as co-workers.
Must have advanced mathematical skills to compile statistical reports, develop and track financial reports.
