As a member of the Butterfield Trail Village Leadership Team, the Director of Dining Services is responsible for the overall direction and management of the Dining Services Department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepares and monitors annual Dining Services budget and operates in accordance with approved budget while providing the maximum value for the dollar spent.
Maintains product and service quality standards by conducting ongoing evaluations and investigating complaints.
Interviews, hires, trains, and develops management staff including plans, assigns and directs work, appraises performance, rewards and disciplines employees, addresses complaints and resolves problems.
Leads and motivates Dining Services staff to achieve operating efficiencies in quality of service, member satisfaction and financial performance.
Complies with established labor regulations while maintains compliance with Butterfield Trail Village established policies and procedures.
Strives to achieve and maintain resident satisfaction goals.
Fosters strong inter-departmental relationships and integrate the Dining Service department within the overall operational plan of Butterfield Trail Village.
Maintains the department in an “inspection ready” state at all times and complies with all federal, state, local and Office of Long Term Care rules and regulations.
Develops and coordinates an ongoing in-service training program t ensure all Dining Services employees understands the proper use of kitchen equipment and the importance of a safe work environment.
Establishes and maintains applicable preventative maintenance inspections and systems in conjunction with facilities department.
Develops and implements programs which result in an increased level of customer satisfaction and operational excellence.
Directs and participates in maintaining safety and sanitation standards, including the development of sanitation and cleaning schedules.
Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Education, Certificates, Licensures and Registrations:
Must meet one of the following to qualify for this position:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Food Service Management or Hospitality,
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nutrition
Associates degree from an approved Dietetic Technician Program
Registered Dietitian or Certified Dietary Manager
In lieu of degree, will consider minimum of five years of progressive culinary/kitchen management experience including experience in upscale, high volume food service operations.
Must have ServSafe certification or obtain in 90 days.
Strong catering experience required.
Strong knowledge of current food and catering practices with a focus on high quality, presentation, production, sanitation, and cost controls.
Three years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
Must possess excellent communications skills, both oral and written, with the ability to read, write, speak clearly and understand English.
Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively in front of large groups.
Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or job type.
Must have strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and possess understanding of technology applications in dining service operations.
Ability to work in fast-pace, stressful environment.
Flexibility to work beyond normal working hours including weekends and holidays. Subject to on-call hours in the event of emergency, weather, or otherwise.
