The Manager of Reimbursement is responsible for leading and integrating Electromed's revenue cycle functions including the patient services, billing and reimbursement teams with a patient centric focus that best maximizes the collection of national reimbursements and payments as well as identifying ongoing patient engagement and reimbursement improvement opportunities. This role involves strong collaboration with internal and external teams and participation in upstream and downstream patient and reimbursement activities.
The Manager of Reimbursement will establish a work environment of continuous improvement that supports the revenue stream, while exceeding patients' expectations and ensuring employee engagement.
This is a new role that will be highly involved in both strategic planning as well as tactical operations, giving the new manager the opportunity to bring their outstanding leadership skills to the team and take the patient services, billing and reimbursement teams to a high level of excellence in both service and revenue recovery.
Ensures achievement of financial and non-financial goals in support of Electromed's mission, core values, and objectives.
Understand and adhere to local State and Federal healthcare regulatory and compliance rules
Act quickly and professionally toward resolving any problems relative to patient service and engagement
Develop systems to maximize patient experience and department efficiencies
Lead development and execution of practical strategies to secure optimal reimbursement of Electromed's products
In conjunction with the Vice President and Client Services Manager, adapt departmental plans and priorities that will address and overcome operational challenges
Work with other reimbursement team leaders to build and create a collaborative environment making for an exceptional patient experience
Provide a high degree of expertise in revenue cycle operations, technical processes, and report analysis
Analyze and communicate financial and operational data for decision-making and strategic planning
Develop leadership and technical skills of direct reports and staff through training and mentorship
Interpret and integrate business strategies into actionable, value-added reimbursement outcomes planning initiatives
Manage team members on operational work to prioritize work tasks, ensure goals and metrics are met or exceeded, and do so with a high degree of quality standardization
Ensures positive interaction with third party payers and promote excellent customer relations within the department
Develop new policies, procedures and workflows and maintain a culture of continuous improvement on core services
Establish best in class DME reimbursement program that meets the needs of patients including identifying patient financial support programs to assist patients with out-of-pocket responsibilities
Acts as the point person for escalation issues related to billing and reimbursement from within department and across the company
Provide ongoing communication, collaboration and strategic planning with key stakeholders
Work in collaboration with the Contracting leadership to ensure appropriate payers are adhering to agreed upon adjudication
Lead onsite departmental and supervisor meetings
Bachelor's degree plus additional 4+ years of clinic, DME or hospital-related supervisory or management revenue cycle experience, or any combination of education and experience that reflects an equivalent educational background
5+ years hospital, clinic, DME or managed care experience in the revenue cycle
2+ years working in a patient services area in a medical setting
3+ years in professional billing and reimbursement in Medicare, Medicaid and commercial insurances
Proven work with Microsoft office suite including Excel, Word, and Outlook
Experience working with medical device or pharmaceutical billing preferred
Anticipate the needs of patients to ensure an exceptional experience
Team player with proven ability to develop strong working relationships within a fast-paced environment
Experience in developing and managing key provider relationships including senior executives
Understanding of comprehensive accurate patient data to ensure an effective scheduling process meets business needs
Ability to convert related activities into a comprehensive work plan
Ability to communicate and present effectively to groups and individuals
Demonstrated excellence in customer service skills
Demonstrated time management and organizational skills
Experience overseeing compliance, oversight and reporting of monthly departmental key indicators
