Kendal on Hudson opened in May 2005 and is a premier accredited, not-for-profit Lifecare Community in the Hudson Valley. Located on approximately 22 acres overlooking the Hudson River and adjacent to Phelps Memorial Hospital Center in the Village of Sleepy Hollow, Westchester County, New York, Kendal is just 30 miles north of New York City. Kendal on Hudson is an affiliate of The Kendal Corporation of Kennett Square, PA, one of the nation’s most highly regarded, nonprofit networks of senior housing communities, programs and services established nearly 40 years ago to serve older adults. Kendal’s philosophy is rooted in the Quaker values of respect for the individual, community, equality, and financial integrity. While operating as part of the Kendal System, Kendal on Hudson operates as an independent lifecare community, with its own Board of Directors and CEO/Executive Director. This executive is accountable to the Boards of the community and the Charitable Fund and to the President of the Kendal Corporation.
Kendal on Hudson offers 222 apartments in multistory buildings; assisted living for residents needing personal care services; a memory care unit; and a health care center providing short and long-term nursing care and an array of community amenities. Additionally, Kendal on Hudson shares a campus with Phelps Memorial Hospital where residents have access to the many services the hospital provides.
The CEO/Executive Director provides vision, strategic direction, fiscal oversight and leadership in the fulfillment of Kendal on Hudson’s mission.
