Vanderbilt University Medical Center offers a twelve-month Cardiology Specialty Residency fully accredited by ASHP. The purpose of the residency is to provide education and training experiences in all facets of cardiology. The resident will be involved with an active inpatient service which includes multiple levels of critical care and acute care.
Journal Club: The resident will be required to formally present one journal article related to cardiology during the residency year.
Presentations: One formal therapeutic presentation and one case study presentation will be required during the year.
Teaching: The resident will assist with precepting Doctor of Pharmacy candidates from various institutions and PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residents from our own institution. There will also be opportunities to provide didactic lectures to pharmacy students, dietetic interns, and medical students, as well as in-service presentations to pharmacy and nursing staff.
Research: The resident will complete a research project and at least one manuscript is to be completed and submitted for publication during the residency.
Staffing/On Call: One weekend of staffing per month is required as well as back up on call services.
