Associate Director – Patient Access establishes current and long‐range product direction for the Patient Access applications delivered by HealthIT at VUMC. This individual leads the scheduling and registration project and support activities within the Patient Access and Revenue Cycle portfolio at VUMC. The Associate Director – Patient Access leads solution development, integration, implementation and maintenance activities such that they align with the needs of VUMC customers, both current and future. This individual also works with governance groups and key business stakeholders
Develops and maintains technical and business knowledge of patient access systems in use or planned for use at VUMC.
Focuses on creating value for our customers through delivery and integration of commercial software systems.
Focuses on sustainability of VUMC systems to maximize the value of software investments and minimize ongoing operating costs.
Working closely with key business sponsors including hospital and clinic COOs, PCC patient access leaders, access center leadership, key vendors and appropriate governance groups, identifies solutions, product requirements and drivers.
In collaboration with key business sponsors and HealthIT Portfolio Directors, develops product strategies in alignment with business and technology strategies.
Plans and manages the execution, monitoring and measurement of commercial and/or integration product strategies.
Leads and champions solutions development life cycle procedures and practices for the Patient Access portfolio at VUMC.
Delivers product and project guidance to the product organization, ensuring appropriate tradeoffs are being made and overall alignment with HealthIT and product strategy is maintained.
Promotes and leverages the HealthIT governance structure to prioritize Patient Access efforts and maintain business and HealthIT alignment.
Collaborates with key business sponsors, defines application service levels and delivers to agreed upon standards.
Participates as a member of the HealthIT Executive team.
Working closely with key business sponsors, drives improvement into processes within Patient Access and Revenue Cycle portfolio.
Attract, retain, develop and motivate Patient Access team leaders and staff.
Keeps abreast of health care industry drivers and the organization's strategic objectives; and
Performs other duties as assigned by HealthIT Management.
Provides clear, appropriate and timely communication to promote a team environment throughout the department and organization.
Complies with VUMC's Client Service Standards and Credo.
Participates in education and professional development as necessary to maintain job-related skills and competencies.
Promotes VUMC in a positive light to the community.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Informatics or a related field is required.
Master's degree in Business, Computer Science, Informatics or a related field is preferred.
Minimum of ten (10) years of experience and success in leading solutions development and integration teams in a healthcare setting with at least five (5) of those years in an Epic Patient Access application environment.
Extensive knowledge of patient scheduling, referrals, ADT, patient movement, and kiosks in a large, complex, multi-hospital healthcare setting.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND VISUAL SKILLS:
Must be able to sit or stand, talk on the telephone, and work at a computer workstation. Manual dexterity is necessary when working on the computer keyboard or with a pointing device. Visual and mental stress is common and mental concentration is essential.
Must be mobile. Significant distance separates IS staff offices from clinic centers, departments, conference rooms and other customer locations. Travel to customer locations, vendor sites, conferences or other venues may be necessary as part of any project. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
Ability to be analytical with parallel, multiple tasks.
Ability to be self-starting and creative within an organization.
Work is in an office area using standard office equipment. Some situations may require visits to patient-seeing areas.
