The Clinical Trials Processing Core manages human specimen for oncology clinical trials for both Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center and Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital. This NIH-guided core facility's services include, but are not limited to, patient sample collection, processing, storage, and shipment based on study requirements and guidance; data tracking and auditing; clinical trial kit management and inventory; and financial management services for clinical trial preparation. With multiple locations across the Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) campus, this program is dedicated to accurate and expedient sample management to ensure quality control and to assist in end user data integrity.
JOB SUMMARY The Core Research Assistant I performs intake services for the scientific research core facility. Under supervision, set up and continue research projects following protocols including the appropriate recording of data. Assist in other laboratory and research functions. Read and follow experimental protocols (May include tissue culture, etc.)
Follow University safety protocols
Perform calculations involving cell counting , % solutions, and serial dilutions.
Prepare and operate equipment for sample processing procedures
May include centrifuge, autoclave, etc.
Maintain equipment according to manufacturer and university guidelines.
Ensure Laboratory is prepared for operations
Maintain sterile conditions as required
Performs intake functions for the core laboratory.
Receive and log sample or request for services
Provide core lab services information to individuals utilizing the core including: minimum requirements for services, cost, etc.
