Filling Automated Dispensing Machines
Assisting Pharmacist in Medication Therapy Clinic
Performing Med Reconciliation in the ED
Under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist and in accordance with applicable state and federal laws, performs a variety of duties and tasks and assists the pharmacist. Has earned PTCB (Pharmacy Tech Certification Board) National Certification. Understands the needs of a patient population that includes ages ranging from newborn through geriatric.
Able to recognize an arrest and respond in a critical situation. Fill Automated Dispensing Units and remove discontinued medications. Check for damaged and outdated IV fluids and medications in work area and remove outdated stock. Assure equipment for provision of patient care is available and in working order (e.g. crash carts, PCA pumps, and printers). Assure drugs in Pyxis in correct place. Prepare prescribed medications, including compounded formulations and IV's. Assure quality packaging, storage, safety, security, and distribution of medications. Perform other duties as requested.
Read, write, perform arithmetic calculations and follow verbal or written instructions at a high school level of knowledge. Operate pharmacy equipment such as automated dispensing machines and computers. Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with Pharmacy, Nursing, and others. Analytic ability to perform assigned tasks. PTCB (Pharmacy Tech Certification Board) National Certification
