The Legal Counsel (Employment), monitors and responds to incoming employment law requests and inquiries including agency charges (EEOC, DOL, OSHA, etc.) for UHS subsidiaries. Assists with responses to attorney demand letters and other employment related legal matters for UHS and its subsidiaries as assigned.
Provides assistance on other miscellaneous matters as deemed appropriate and necessary by supervising attorneys.
Essential Job Duties:
Effectively manages a high volume caseload of agency charges relating to employment matters (EEOC, DOL, state human rights agencies) as well as other healthcare compliance matters (OSHA, OCR). Prepares responses to such charges providing relevant information and documentation to defend the companyâ€™s position against claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliatory discharge and/or alleged wage and hour violations, as needed.Â Coordinates and represents the company in mediation efforts when appropriate.
Reviews and/or prepares employment related documents including but not limited to employment agreements, staffing contracts and settlement agreements.
May coordinate issues with outside counsel for litigation, administrative and regulatory matters as needed.Â
