Create and communicate a clear vision for practice performance and set goals for reaching such performance.
Manage all resources to meet/exceed budget expectations and meet quality and financial metrics. Evaluate financial information and implement actions/improvements to achieve favorable budget performance.
Proactively seek out and implement opportunities for process improvements, workflow redesign, market/revenue growth and expense reduction. Troubleshoot workflow issues or process failure points, and identify root causes.
Oversee and direct the day to day practice operations, related to both front office (business) and back office (clinical) operations. Organize, direct and oversee support staff performance to support physician productivity goals.
Accountable for meeting standard practice performance metrics that align with MGMA and/or other benchmarking organizations. Design and implement quality metrics, performance improvement studies and reports on these areas quarterly.
Communicate and share information regularly with providers and staff. Conduct regular provider and staff meetings in which practice performance against established metrics is reviewed and action plans discussed to ensure achievement of practice objectives and goals.
Understand and monitor physician progress on the physician compensation plan.
Oversee the management of the revenue cycle; including staff responsible for insurance verification and authorization, charge capture and reconciliation, collections, internal controls, coding, and denial monitoring to maximize reimbursement. Review charges, encounters and cash collections for trends and variations. Conduct spot audits to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
Analyze financial impact of changes in clinical activities and forecast actual revenue/expenditures vs. budget.
Develop operational and capital budgets which accurately reflect the financial and operational needs of the practice, both short and long term.
Manage daily allocation of resources according to patient volume and pre-established budget allowance. Actively identify improvements in expense management. Flex and float staff to other practices using positive leadership.
Review and monitor physician coding patterns regularly and develop action plans for improved coding.
Develop projections for practice performance to meet budgeted goals and communicate projections to Administration.
Cultivate strong teams to assure achievement of practice objectives and staff development opportunities.
Communicate clear expectations to staff about roles and responsibilities. Ensure that jobs, roles, responsibilities and reporting relationships are clear, workable and consistent with the goals of the organization.
Ensure sites are in compliance at all times with TJC, CMS, CLIA and other regulatory standards. Ensure staff is appropriately trained, current standards and the practices are “inspection-ready” at all times.
Facilitate multidisciplinary problem solving teams to evaluate processes and systems, generate alternatives and make recommendations to increase utilization, reduce costs, improve customer satisfaction and produce favorable clinical outcomes.

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, health administration, nursing or related discipline. Masters in healthcare or business administration preferred.
Possesses a detailed knowledge of practice workflow processes and ability to recognize needed changes and implement solutions. Ability to analyze practice operational problems, develop effective techniques for resolution, drive needed change and achieve support for change.

Proven business acumen and analytical skills. Understanding of financial analysis concepts and ability to use financial tools (budgets and forecasts) to measure, manage and communicate business performance. Certification or training in Lean Six Sigma preferred (i.e., Green Belt, Black Belt)
Comprehensive understanding of revenue cycle processes, including ability to analyze, refine and improve these processes (patient registration, charge entry, eligibility verification, point of service collections, coding, and denial management).
