The Ridge Behavioral Health System is seeking a dynamic and talented PRN Assessment Support Specialist. Located in Lexington, KY, the heart of the Bluegrass, The Ridge Behavioral Health System offers a healing environment that is reassuring to a patientsâ€™ sense of security and confidentiality. Dedicated to excellence, The Ridge Behavioral Health System is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, as a licensed, 110-bed hospital, providing psychiatric (mental health) and chemical dependency (drug & alcohol rehabilitation) services to children, adolescents and adults. Inpatient care is provided on a 24-hour basis, seven days a week. Outpatient and partial hospitalization services are provided on a six-day per week basis, days and evenings. The PRN Assessment Support Specialist receives calls and unplanned individual/ family walk-ins with compassion, empathy, and a sense of service and urgency. Thorough and accurate documentation of calls and other Assessment related paperwork is a critical component of the job. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency with entering data, knowledge regarding hospital programs and community referral sources, and excellent customer service skills. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. Staff must demonstrate knowledge and skill in provision of services to varied population of patients in an inpatient and outpatient hospital setting.
Position Specific Competencies:
Performs clerical operations in adherence to department policies.
Ensures Intake Call data is maintained and entered daily.
Conducts prompt follow-up phone calls to â€œNo Showâ€� patient appointments.
Answers telephone professionally and promptly.
Facilitates scheduling of appointments congruent with needs and resources of caller.
Refers callers to appropriate resources that optimally meet callerâ€™s needs.Â Â
Demonstrates sufficient understanding of services available in the community.
Interacts professionally and effectively with physicians and other clinical staff.
Works professionally and effectively with Business Office and Utilization Review staff.
Interacts cooperatively with professional liaisons, supporting the facilityâ€™s ongoing efforts.
Interacts well with referral sources; facilitates prompt communications in the best interest of the patient and the facilityâ€™s operations.
Is receptive to direction & feedback from the Director & supervisors.
Demonstrates knowledge of programs &/or unit services, policies, and procedures.
Demonstrates effective time management skills; organizes work so that critical documents and tasks may be completed promptly, accurately, and thoroughly.
Follows-up on tasks or assignments requiring further attention.
Follows proper NCI de-escalation techniques when handling crisis situations.
Provides appropriate crisis intervention as necessary by anticipating and responding quickly to escalating behaviors, utilizing de-escalation techniques to diffuse the situation, correctly prioritizing safety concerns.
Uses appropriate counseling skills by de-escalating aggression, using active listening skills, using appropriate tone and volume of voice, providing a high frequency and variety of positive reinforcements, maintaining appropriate boundaries, and promoting a positive peer culture.
Demonstrates proper procedures for therapeutic holds and seclusions.
Contraband is properly removed and disposed of according to policy.
Documentation on Intake Call Sheets is complete and correct in all areas.
Documentation in AS400 is complete and correct in all areas.
Patient belongings are properly inventoried and logged.
Documentation on Consent forms is complete and correct in all areas.
