Coordinates Activities of Stroke Program: Develops, implements and coordinates activities through interdisciplinary collaboration and utilization of stroke guidelines and practice standards.
Education: Develops and promotes evidence-based stroke education and training for physicians, staff, prehospital personnel, patients and families. Plans and coordinates community outreach educational activities.
Professional Practice: Leads Stroke Program Committee and participates in other hospital based committees.
Oversees policy development with periodic review and update of care guidelines to support the stroke program.
Attends Code Stroke, and serves as a clinical resource for the care and management of stroke patients.
Follows up on patient care issues with physicians, staff, prehospital personnel, patients and families.
Acts as a liaison between hospital and outside entities through participation in regional meetings related to stroke.
Quality/Performance Improvement: Participates in quality improvement activities to evaluate the overall effectiveness of the stroke program.Â
Performs data abstraction and coordinates reporting through County, State and Regional programs.
Sets performance goals, develops plans and evaluates clinical practice by collecting data, conducting audits and monitoring patient outcomes.
Analyzes data and identifies opportunities for growth, following up with leadership on outliers.
Training Requirements: Maintains currency in stroke knowledge by attending NIHSS Training and a minimum of 8 hours of stroke related training annually.
