The Director, Workers’ Compensation develops, directs and oversees the Ministry-Wide Workers’ Compensation Risk Management Program. Accountable for implementing an integrated end-to-end approach to minimizing and managing workers’ compensation risk – involving Human Resources, Finance, Occupational Health, Quality and Safety, and other key stakeholders. Develops ways to identify and control risks within the organization in order to reduce the “Total Cost of Risk” of the workers’ compensation program.
WORKERS' COMPENSATION PROGRAM:
• Executes on the strategic risk management vision of OSF Healthcare by developing, directing and overseeing initiatives to (1) identify and minimize the risk of injury to Mission Partners, (2) minimize loss and preserve assets OSF Healthcare
• Generates and analyzes workers’ compensation data, develops workers’ compensation metrics, and using the data and metrics, prepares and presents reports on the progress made in addressing occupational risk
• Measures and evaluates the cost associated with the Workers’ compensation program, including risk financing strategies, cost containment initiatives, risk transfer, Third Party Claims administration expenses, actuarial and retention analyses. Recommends alternatives as appropriate.
Bachelor’s degree, with a concentration in health care administration, business or a related discipline or in a health care profession.
Minimum 5 years of safety, workers' compensation and/or risk management experience, preferably in the healthcare industry
A thorough understanding of the elements and demands of health care risk management programs is required.
The ability to analyze and use claim data and other information to reduce risk.
The ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups, orally and in writing.
Ability to effectively manage projects and multiple initiatives
Master’s Degree with experience in healthcare administration, business or a related discipline or in a health care profession
Certification in Risk Management or Workers’ Compensation
