Responsible for assisting with patient intake process. The counselor takes patient intake calls; provides information to individuals, agencies, facilities, and professional staff (i.e., physicians, consulting professionals) requesting information regarding potential admission, developing and/or maintaining relationships with ongoing sources of referral to alternate treatment sources when appropriate.
Essential Job Duties:
Knows and understands Intake Call System Procedures and responds to telephone inquiry calls
Determines initial clinical and financial eligibility, requests clinical information on potential patients
Initiates verification of insurance coverage to determine viability of insurance for potential patients
Orients residents and family/guardian to facility covering applicable policies
Completes Intake Assessment with patient and/or family
Clinical review of past treatment information, to determine level of care needed by the patient
Able to determine a provisional diagnosis for mental health and/or chemical dependence treatment
Successful precertification of mental health and/or chemical dependence treatment with insurance companies
