Mercyhealth has an exciting opportunity for a medical physicist interested in implementing new technologies. The position offers flexible scheduling and a highly competitive salary. The radiation oncology division has sites in Janesville Wisconsin and Rockford Illinois. This position will be primarily based at our Rockford site, with the possibility for flexible scheduling and cross-coverage at our Janesville site.
Our system is undergoing significant technological updates. A new linear accelerator is currently being installed at the Janesville campus, with an additional accelerator and CT-sim scheduled for immediate replacement at the Rockford campus. The new physicist will be responsible for implementing a new program including VMAT and SRS/SBRT. A full suite of QA tools is available.
The function of the medical physicist is to render assistance and guidance to the Radiation Oncologist(s), Dosimetrist(s), Radiation Therapists, and Department Manager in matters pertaining to the physics of Radiation Therapy. The physicist, under the direction of the Radiation Safety Committee, will share the responsibility for management of the radiation safety program within the Radiation Oncology department.
Education: Graduate with Ph.D. in Medical Physics or equivalent required; Graduate from a Medical Physics Residency program, if required for ABR Certification
License/Certification: American Board of Radiology (ABR) Certification preferred or ABR Board Eligible and must receive certification within three years of hire date required. Eligible to obtain state licensure as required by individual states (i.e. Illinois IEMA).
Work Experience: Minimum 3 years of radiation therapy physics experience preferred; Knowledgeable in HDR Policies and Procedures and capable of planning HDR treatments preferred; Knowledgeable in and capable of planning IMRT, SRS and SBRT treatments, including arcs, required
Additional Salary Information: Sign-on Bonus available up to $20,000.
