Provides leadership and direction in establishing goals and objectives for MHS Ambulatory Pharmacy Services in support of MemorialCare strategic plan, system Pharmacy Services and campus objectives. Continually assesses shared and campus Ambulatory Pharmacy Services quality, cost, delivery, safety, customer service and engagement results and provides recommendations for improvement and/or business development in order to achieve outcomes and goals for system-wide quality, service and financial viability. Leads quality, service and financial improvement initiatives related to Ambulatory Pharmacy operations, pharmaceutical flows and other Ambulatory Pharmacy management services. Monitors Pharmacy and pharmaceutical flow activities ensuring optimization of performance, integrity, MemorialCare policy and regulatory compliance. Serves as a member of the MHS leadership team, MHS Pharmacy VAT and effectively collaborates with MHS and campus executives and operations leaders in a matrix reporting environment. Serves as internal expert and participates in planning that includes potential clients, payer, and contracting strategies while complying with legal and regulatory requirements. In conjunction with system strategic plan, facilitates Ambulatory Pharmacy new business growth and development including payer negotiation, implementation of new contracts, monitoring of financial indicators, and modification of business strategy to sustain profitability.
The ideal candidate possesses a Pharm.D and California pharmacist licensure and preferably an advanced degree (i.e. MBA, MHA, MS). A minimum three years proven and demonstrated leadership experience at the integrated delivery network (IDN)/system level/regional director and demonstrated experience as leader of multi-site ambulatory pharmacy services/retail/specialty division.
Portfolio of successful IDN pharmacy services business development experience. Demonstrated proficiency in developing, planning and implementing short-and-long-term objectives, at the system level. Skill in examining and reengineering operations and procedures, formulating policy and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
Demonstrated subject matter expertise for Federal, State and other regulatory law as they relate to system-level Pharmacy leadership and operations. Demonstrated proficiency with hospital operating principles, practices and procedures, hospital and ambulatory pharmacy operations, Lean and supply chain principles. Extensive knowledge of retail, specialty, and pharmaceutical-related products and services, including 340B, specialty pharmacy and other pharmacy related population health opportunities.
