Arbour Hospital, a 118 bed (106 Adult/12 Adolescent) private psychiatric facility located in Bostonâ€™s Jamaica Plain neighborhood; the hospital also manages an 18 bed satellite adult psychiatric unit in Quincy. The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for all staff and patients. Hours: Weekdays: 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm (M-F), Weekends: 9:30 am to 6:00 pm (Sa-Sun). Personal transportation preferred.
Maintains all assigned patient rooms, ancillary areas and department areas in a clean, neat, and sanitary manner.
Cleans all assigned areas utilizing the 7-step procedure as outlined in the Department Employee Handbook
Cleans assigned carts and equipment daily; ensures all items are returned in an orderly manner 100% of the time.
Replenishes supplies such as: paper towels, toilet tissue, soap, etc; requests supplies and equipment as needed.
Routinely collects waste; sanitizes all garbage cans on an on-going basis.
Observes and follows Isolation Techniques in accordance with Infection Control Policy.
Cleans or sanitizes after emergency spills as requested.
Ensures a safe, clean, attractive environment for patients, staff, and visitors at all times.
Washes hands thoroughly throughout the day; follows and adheres to hospital policy.
Maintains all assigned patient rooms ancillary areas, department areas, clinic areas and corridors with the correct preventative maintenance procedures as outlined in department policy as requested.
Buffs/Burnishes with 16/20â€� high-speed roto and/or 2000 RPM burnisher.
Shampoo carpets with 16/20â€� roto
Extracts carpets with extractor
Washes walls with correct equipment as outlined in orientation guidelines.
Operates 12/24 oz. wet floor mop, wringers Bovac etc. per orientation guidelines.
Uses chemicals and solutions per department policy.
Keeps work area neat and tidy.
Follows appropriate protocol following patient discharges as observed by supervisor.
Thoroughly washes and sanitizes beds when patients are discharged; makes beds with clean linen in the prescribed manner at all times with no more than two complaints annually.
Thoroughly cleans and sanitizes entire room and washroom when patients are discharged, utilizing established departmental guidelines and productivity measures.
Uses appropriate solutions in disinfecting rooms.
Reports to work on time and/or is ready to report at change of shit 100% of the time. Provides adequate notice to supervisory personnel due to absence; calls one hour prior to beginning of shift 100% of the time
Plans for special days off in advance and gives notice to supervisor per department guidelines.
Requests vacation time in advance per department protocol.
Maintains proper attendance requirement per Department Policy.
Exhibits timely, satisfactory completion of all job assignments with minimal assistance as evidenced by no overtime unless requested and approved by supervisor.
Exercises initiative, seeking additional tasks from supervisor or other staff members when time pennits.
Accepts assignments with no unwarranted documented complaints of unfair workload.
Demonstrates ability to identify and resolve interpersonal conflicts constructively when dealing with members of the organization as documented by direct observations.
Demonstrates a positive, supportive attitude to patient families and the personnel consistently and in emergency and non-emergency situations, as documented by no more than two legitimate documented complaints annually.
Maintains courteous and pleasant attitude 100% of the time to patientsâ€™ families and significant others as observed by supervisor.
Presents department in a positive manner to visitors, patients. and other hospital personnel as observed by supervisor with no documented infractions noted annually.
Maintains confidential patient and departmental information with no infraction annually
Performs cleaning and refinishing functions in all assigned areas and follows appropriate departmental policies and procedures as observed by supervisor.
Strips all soil and finishes base material per department guidelines.
Scrubs floors to remove soil per department guidelines. Refinishes floors to glossy appearance per department guidelines. Removes spots from carpets and shampoos as required per department guidelines. Removes stains and patch-finish floors as required per department guidelines. Observes and patches damaged carpeting as required. Analyzes floor or carpet conditions and determines proper cleaning techniques. Cleans floor and carpet appropriately to maintain proper appearance, with no incidents of damage noted from using incorrect solutions or procedures.
Demonstrates efficient and safe use of housekeeping equipment and solutions as observed by supervisor.
Identifies types of soiling and/or spotting and utilizes proper solutions with no documented incidents of misuse as per department guidelines.
Handles chemicals and solutions per department policy with no more than two incidents of errors noted annually.
Ensures that all chemicals and solutions are in properly labeled containers at all times with no documented incidents noted.
Adheres to safety regulations as outlined in departmental policies (e.g. wet floor signs).
Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure professional responsible and courteous environment.
Participates in activities that enhance professional growth and development
Demonstrates conduct in keeping with UEIS ethical standards
Attends all required Safety Training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety department/service safety, specific job-related hazards.
