Mental Health America (MHA) is looking for a Peer Advocacy, Supports & Services Associate for its office in Alexandria, VA. We are considering a broad range of candidates for this position. MHA believes we must address mental illness before Stage 4. We promote mental health as a critical part of overall wellness, including prevention for all, early identification and intervention for those at risk, integrated health, behavioral health and other services for those who need them, and recovery as a goal.

Overall Job Function
Support the efforts of the Peer Advocacy, Supports & Services Department.
This position will support MHA’s VP for Peer Advocacy, Supports & Services in disseminating our innovative social self-directed care program which combines life coaching, self-actualization, peer support, and the principles of self-directed care to help people with serious mental illnesses integrate into and engage with their communities. The position involves setting up webinars, planning for conference exhibitions, and assisting in marketing efforts.
The position will also support MHA’s advanced level National Certified Peer Specialist (NCPS) credential. Job duties will involve tracking applications, coordinating with affiliates and other organizations for training, recruiting new test sites, and participating in the activities of the national taskforce for expanding peer support.
As needed, the position will update and maintain the Center for Peer Support website. The position will involve in-depth training in each area of responsibility.
