Must possess either a baccalaureate degree in social work or psychology and two years of professional experience working with children, one year of which must have been in a residential facility for children; a high school diploma or a General Education Development Certificate (GED) and a minimum of five years working with children with at least two years in a residential facility for children; or a combination of education and experience working with children as approved by the department. Must have a minimum of one year of supervisory experience in a residential facility.
Must possess demonstrated leadership ability, the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups and individuals, strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality of resident information. Must possess knowledge of therapeutic relationships as it relates to children and adolescents, therapeutic processes, child/adolescent growth and development, limit setting and behavior management, crisis management of aggressive behaviors. Demonstrates knowledge of risk factors for violence and determining potential for violent acting out and ability to assess suicidal/homicidal ideations. On call requirements required.
