This is position is local to the Boston, MA area.
Exciting opportunity for a genetic counselor to be the first Quest Diagnostics neuro genetic counseling position joint funded by Autism Speaks and Quest; an important area of medicine that is rapidly developing. This individual will join a professional multidisciplinary team consisting of seven genetic counselors within the neurology franchise at Quest Diagnostics. Collectively, this team is dedicated to promote and execute high standards in the development, delivery, support, and promotion of commercial neurogenetic testing. Genomic Services contributes to all aspects of genetic test development from idea to implementation and beyond; oversees the provision of genetic test support to providers; collaborates with Quest commercial, marketing, operation and health plan teams; and demonstrates Quest’s leadership in the genetic test market through such things as scientific contributions and volunteer activities and leadership. This position also interacts regularly with research and medical staff at Autism Speaks. This position would allow you to shape not only your future, but the landscape of neurogenetic counseling for the rapidly expanding area of autism diagnostics. The position will support our neurology offerings primarily in research and the laboratory, with emphasis on testing/research related to autism. Some field encounters are also possible.
Facilitate research project regarding autism genetics utilizing the Autism Speaks MSSNG genomic database from conception to completion.
Become immersed in the Research and Development of new and revised product launches. Contribute to professional genetic education programs by creating and/or delivering presentations, sessions and webinars for external audiences, with emphasis on topics related to the genetics of autism.
Serve as an expert resource for internal departments including health plan, marketing, sales, R&D and the laboratory. Identifies internal educational needs and recommend medical education support strategies.
Provide important information and support to clinicians regarding genetic test , strategies, logistics (sample tracking/test code verification), results and interpretation
Manage case follow-up, outcomes documentation, and data collection
Provide field-based support, working collaboratively with specialty sales forces to enhance our clients understanding of Quest’s genetic offerings and educate them based on the latest science and guidelines to support the appropriate test for the appropriate patient.
Review orders flagged for accuracy or special requests, and monitor processing to ensure timely results
