The University of Illinois Cancer Center is seeking a Senior Research Specialist (CCSG Scientific Writer). This position will provide high-quality and timely scientific writing support to faculty and administrative personnel within the Cancer Center in pursuit of NCI designation and the submission of our Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG).
This position is responsible for participating as a key contributor in document development and control for the CCSG application; ensuring that all presented information is accurate and written in accordance with applicable funding institute requirements, policy, and instructions. Incumbent is responsible for development and deadlines of written sections of the CCSG research cores, research programs which include Cancer Biology, Translational Oncology and Cancer Prevention Control research programs, Cancer Career Enhancement and Training, and Clinical Protocol and Data Management.
The Scientific Writer will also be responsible for development of document templates including standard language to facilitate multiple submissions of similar documents; graphical design to visually represent scientific findings; editing for, clarity, consistency, and conformance with any applicable requirements; and, management of the document development and delivery process.
Bachelor's degree in health science, public health or health-related field required. Master's or Ph.D degree preferred.
A minimum of 5 years grant writing/research experience required.
Possesses and applies advanced knowledge of research principles, concepts, practices and methods.
