Florida Hospital Ocala opened its doors in 1898 as Marion General Hospital and has been in continuous operation since then. Then in 1928, the hospital was renamed to Munroe Memorial Hospital. Adventist Health System acquired Munroe Regional Medical and renamed it Florida Hospital Ocala in 2018. What you will responsible for:
Performs surveillance on positive cultures to determine if the infection is hospital acquired or community acquired.
Analyzes data to follow trends or spikes in infection.
Reports all diseases to the Health Department that are listed on the Reportable Diseases Chart to fulfill Florida statutes.
Organizes and participates in the education and orientation of associates, students and physician staff members to promote knowledge and to reduce hospital-acquired infections.
Observes associates and medical staff for correct use of barrier precautions to prevent transmission of pathogens and reduce Healthcare Acquired Infections.
Performs walking rounds/completes audit tools monthly for each unit • Assists in making decisions to isolate or terminate isolation of patients.
Educates patients and family members as needed regarding various diseases and the requirement for barrier precautions.
Performs direct observation of hand hygiene to monitor compliance and assist in the reduction of healthcare acquired infections.
Contributes to the hospital TB and airborne disease exposure control plan to prevent transmission by observing associates and physicians for the correct use of the respirator and intervenes when necessary to teach the correct use.
What you will need:
Strong computer skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Advanced degree in Nursing (ADN or BSN)
FL RN license
Minimum three years' infection control experience in an acute healthcare setting (Preferred)
