DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF AMBULATORY SERVICES
San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC), a 509-bed integrated care facility committed to providing quality medical care to meet the health needs of the community since 1930, is currently seeking a motivated executive with strong leadership skills to join our team.
As a member of the executive team, the Deputy Director of Ambulatory Services will develop a vision, provide overall leadership, and will plan, organize, direct and coordinate the operations of the Ambulatory Services division of SMMC. This position is responsible for exercising direct and indirect supervision over Clinic Managers, and other assigned managerial, professional, technical and clerical staff. Reporting to the COO, the Deputy Director will recommend, develop, implement and evaluate goals, objectives, policies and procedures related to these operations, in addition to coordinating services with other divisions, departments and outside agencies.
The ideal candidate will possess a Master’s degree in Management, Public Administration or a healthcare related field, and/or 3 years of increasingly responsible administrative experience in the development of health policy or provision of patient care for an accredited acute care hospital or outpatient clinic setting. Requires knowledge of ambulatory care and outpatient health care delivery systems; health care program design, development and implementation; principles/practices of organization, public administration and personnel management; current theories and practices in community health and primary care systems; LEAN and Six Sigma; and principles of financial administration, including public budgeting, reporting, health care services accounting and medical care reimbursement.
