The importance of an iMRI suite manager is crucial in order to maintain a safe and proficient iMRI suite. With this magnitude of technology, it is important to set in place, oversee, and maintain standard operating and safety procedures. Adhering to safety protocol can be difficult for those using it for the first time but also for those with years of experience. There is great responsibility in safeguarding, not only the patients but also the team working within the iMRI suite. The assistant nurse manager of iMRI is responsible for steering, creating and maintaining iMRI safety and workflow policy. Additionally, close collaboration with the MRI department is an absolute necessity in order to train new staff and vendors on working safely in the zone 3-4 MR environments. In addition to the responsibilities of training, policy creation/maintenance, committee work, and other service supervisor duties assigned, persons assigned to perform the duties of the nurse manager for the iMRI is primarily responsible but not limited to the following:
Maintain safety and control of traffic into and out of the iMRI OR
Supervise and ensure that all nursing, physician, anesthesia, MRI and all other ancillary staff adhere to standards and protocols.
Maintain checklists associated DELTA case stages of the case.
Perform the duties outside of the normal circulating nurse to maintain an MRI safe environment
Maintenance of safety training
Maintain room equipment inventories
