Responsibilities: Performs a comprehensive ophthalmic assessment on ocular patients. Performs diagnostic tests as indicated or as requested by the ophthalmologist. Functions autonomously as part of an integrated team of ophthalmic support services. Performs patient education in regard to treatment of ocular conditions as well as preventative care.
Qualifications: High school education or GED. Two years experience as an ophthalmic assistant.
Additional Qualifications: Retina experience is preferred.
Must have technical and diagnostic skills to perform a comprehensive ophthalmic assessment along with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. Must have effective keyboarding skills.

License or Certification: COA, COT or COMT certification is required.
Benefit Eligible: Yes Exemption Status: Non-exempt Compensation Detail: Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $19.60 per hour. Hours/Pay Period: 80 Schedule Details: Primarily 8 am - 5 pm Monday - Friday. However, our department is participating in an extended hours program, which allows clinics to begin at 7 am and end at 6 pm. Technicians are required to work the extended hours at least once a week.
