Performs the primary functions of an RN in triaging, assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care of patients of the unit during his/her shift, according to Emergency Department polices and procedure, TJC and standards of Emergency Practice, the Colorado Nurse Practice Act, and COBRA. Responsible for managing all assigned personnel, supplies and equipment on the unit, and for promoting teamwork with physicians and personnel of other departments. Is able to function independently with only occasional or limited supervision. Participates in assigned departmental duties and projects, including involvement in yearly goals and objectives. Performs all other duties as assigned.
Core competencies: Medication Administration, Restraint Use, General Assessment, Pain Management, Falls, Blood Administration, Emergent Blood Administration, Age Specific, Compliance and computerized annual required education (HealthStream); additional competencies as defined by Department Director.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, required
Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Colorado, required
CPR required by completion of the unit-specific orientation and before working independently.
ACLS, TNCC, and ENPC are required within 6 months of employment.
