Health Occupations, Physical Education & Business Division trains, retrains, or enhances skills of students passionate about high-demand careers in health and business. Opportunities at Shoreline Community College for students pursuing the field of nursing include the Nursing Assistant Certified program (NAC) and the RN Nursing program. Both programs are approved by the Washington State Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission, and the Nursing program is nationally accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). The Associate Dean of Nursing provides visionary and innovative leadership to a dynamic and engaged faculty, and will be responsible for strengthening our nursing programs, exercising sound financial decisions, enhancing diversity, and developing College and community partnerships.

Collaborates with faculty to develop, implement, and evaluate curriculum, incorporating evidence-based standards of nursing practice to include high engagement instructional practices
Formulates program outcomes and designs curriculum based on student learning outcomes, standards, philosophy, mission, and core values of our nursing programs
Demonstrates a record of innovative leadership and success
Mentors new staff and faculty, supervising and monitoring workload and professional development plans
Prepares the program budget with faculty input
Recommends spending from the Shoreline Foundation nursing funds for scholarships, emergency funds, and professional faculty development
Develops and maintains written policies of the nursing programs
Establishes articulation and affiliation agreements with other nursing programs and clinical practice agencies that specify expectations for all parties and protects students
Represents program as a Nursing Education Partner in Clinical Placement Northwest, coordinating clinical placements and ensuring clinical requirements of faculty and students are met
Acquires and maintains national accreditation and nursing commission approval for the nursing programs
Continually evaluates and improves program success based on program data not limited to NCLEX results, College initiatives such as enrollment and retention, and student surveys
Please address the following in your letter of interest: REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Master's degree in nursing from a nationally accredited nursing education program recognized by the United States Department of Education
Five (5) years of experience as a RN including two (2) years of experience in nursing education
Current knowledge of nursing practice at the associate degree program level as appropriate
Experience in curriculum development, administration, program development and evaluation
Active, unencumbered license as a registered nurse in Washington State (WAC 246-840-517), or the ability to obtain this license by Fall 2017
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Fostering a climate of equity and belonging through multicultural awareness and competence
Engaging effectively and collaboratively (through oral/written communication) with students, staff, and faculty as well as community partners and the general public
Knowledge of curriculum development, program evaluation, and professional development
Experience with computer systems and clinical simulation related to teaching and clinical nursing practice
