Providence is calling a Patient Host/Hostess ( Per Diem / Evening Shift ) to Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, CA.
DIETITIAN PROFICIENCY IS A MUST
In this position you will:
Be the liaison between patients and the Food Services department, providing excellent customer service performing functions pertaining to the menu selections and delivery of food to patients.
Ensure all food delivered meets existing standards for safety, diet prescription, quality, freshness, taste, temperature, and appearance.
Coordinate patient nutritional needs between nursing units, dietitians and technicians, as well as kitchen staff.
Perform assigned duties (delivers patient trays, communicate patient food preferences, deliver nourishments, prepare/deliver late trays and pick-up unused tube feedings.
Procure food and supplies from refrigerator, freezer, and other storage areas as needed.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Three months experience in customer service, patient interactions, food service, computer operations and time management.
Training in institutional food preparation and safe food handling.
Knowledge of Sanitary cleaning of equipment, specialized diets, and hospital processes.
Familiarity with medical terminology, emergency codes and responses and general computer.
Ability to perform data entry and basic computer skills, prioritize work and manage time effectively.
Ability to work with patients that are ill and possibly facing end of life issues, to communicate verbally and write effectively with patients and health team.
Ability to use knowledge and resources to resolve problems that occur while delivering patient snacks and /or meals.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to write simple correspondence.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Three months to one year previous experience working on assembly line preparing patient meal trays and dishroom duties is preferred.
