Providence is calling a Phlebotomist 2 (0.0 FTE, Rotating/Variable Shift) to Providence Portland Medical Center, OR.
**This role will mostly provide coverage for our early am shifts (0300-1100) with the expectation to every once in a while be able covering graveyard shifts as well (2500-0530). Both shifts come with a shift differential. This team is a great fit for phlebotomists who are looking to grow in their role and get more processing experience in the labs.
In this position, you will:
Be responsible for the accurate and timely pre-analytical functions of patient identification, blood and body fluid specimen collection and specimen labeling.
Provide support to multiple regional laboratory personnel.
Be integral to maintaining the integrity of patient specimens in order to provide accurate and timely patient care.
Excellent communication, Service Excellence, and good judgment that meets or exceeds the expectations of patients, visitors, physicians and Providence Health System staff.
Possess astute attention to detail in accurately identifying patients, appropriate specimen collection tools and preserving the integrity of the specimen.
Be competent in the assessment, treatment or care of patients of all ages including neonate, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
Be competent in the interpretation of a patient's behavior, including an understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological maturation process.
Facilitate individualized treatment of patients by understanding the development needs and scope of treatment needs for each patient.
Possess knowledge of patient registration, order entry, specimen processing and the appropriate handling and/or disbursement of laboratory data and patient results as needed.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of and competency with numerous regulatory body compliance and safety regulations.
Have job complexity that is evidenced by the performance of multiple tasks, use of various computer applications and requires the ability to think independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Understand Providence Health & Services and the Portland Service Area Laboratory goals and strategies.
Required qualifications for this position include:
1 year of phlebotomy related experience and Certification / Registry (PBT, etc.) from a government agency or nationally recognized organization (eg. American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel (NCA) -or- 3 years of phlebotomy related experience
Successful completion of a nationally accredited phlebotomy or medical assistant training program
Demonstrated outstanding Service Excellence
Proven reliability and dependability
Demonstrated computer proficiency
Knowledge of specimen handling and collection requirements, general laboratory workflow and basic medical terminology
**Note : Industry related experience must be from an equivalent high volume, acute care laboratory performing high complexity testing
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Certification or Registry (PBT, etc.) from a government agency or nationally recognized organization (eg. ASCP, NCA)
