TheMarion VA Medical Center is currently seeking a full time, Board Eligible or Certified Neurologist. The Neurology Staff Physician provides comprehensive care for patients who have illnesses within the scope of General Neurology. The incumbent is responsible for providing care in primarily an outpatient setting, but may be required to provide rare to occasional Inpatient hospital care at the Marion facility. On-call responsibilities will include availability for telephone consultations with Acute care physicians (ED physicians and Hospitalist). Responsibilities also include identifying patients' health problems and designing diagnostic and therapeutic plans to meet these needs. He/She is responsible for resolving problems affecting patient care and providing appropriate education for the patient and/or family members regarding the patient's care, patient's illness and its management. Current experience, up to date procedure skills as well as excellent clinical skills are required. Incumbent must be BLS/ACLS certified.
Citizenship of the United States. Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with Department of Veterans Affairs policy.
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Completion of a first-year residency, or its equivalent, approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which it was completed.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.
