The physician provides Image Interpretation and related Patient Care Services within the scope of Radiology Service. The majority of the physician's time will be devoted to clinical care, but sufficient time will be allotted to teaching, research and administrative duties as assigned. Duties include, but are not limited to:
* Responsible for primarily all aspects of Radiology within the hospital.
* Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide all Diagnostic Radiology services.
* Responsible for reviewing consults including utilization management, ensuring appropriate pre and post procedural work ups, technical oversight for the technologist, overall safety of patients including establishing protocols, oversight of contrast administration and response to adverse patient reactions, timely interpretation and communication of imaging results including report entry into the digital medical record and verbal notifications of critical finding.
* Provides consultative service for referring physicians, provide comparative reports as requested, and participate in clinical conferences and committees.
* Possesses sufficient computer skills necessary to work with advanced PACS and Voice Recognition systems.
* Participates in Quality Control/Quality Management including department and hospital level peer review activities.
* Responsible for teaching house staff and medical students assigned to imaging services.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

* Education. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from an institution whose accreditation was in place for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are:
(1) Schools of medicine accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) for the year in which the degree was granted, or
(2) Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) of the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted.
(3) For foreign medical graduates not covered in (1) or (2) above, facility officials must verify with the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) that the applicant has met requirements for certification, and must obtain a copy of the ECFMG certificate, if claimed by the applicant.
* Licensure and Registration. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
* Residency Training. Completion of your residency training or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. (NOTE: VA Physicians involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty status.) Approved residencies are:
(1) Those approved by the accrediting bodies for graduate medical education, the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA), in the list published for the year the residency was completed, or
(2) Other residencies or their equivalents which the local Professional Standards Board determines to have provided an applicant with appropriate professional training. Certified or board eligible in Diagnostic Radiology. The Incumbent should be an effective teacher for medical students and house staff assigned to his/her area. The Incumbent should be able to effectively and collegially interact with other radiologists as well as a broad range of referring provides. The Incumbent should hold an unrestricted state medical license within the United States. The Incumbent must pass a background/security check and a pre-employment physical. The Incumbent must be able to obtain privileges at the VA Health Care System and successfully complete a focused professional practice evaluation within the first 90 days of clinical practice. Incumbent Certified in basic cardiac life support (BCLS) and ACLS.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
