Providence is calling a Registered Nurse - Transition Mentor Nursing Education (1.0 FTE, Rotating/Variable) to Providence Office Park in Portland, OR.
The full-time position will work with all 8 hospitals within the Oregon Region. To ensure the greatest contact with our Preceptors and Resident/Fellows, typical work hours may be 3pm - 11pm, Monday-Friday.
In this position, you will:
Report to the Regional Manager of Clinical Orientation and Development.
Be accountable to build and develop the clinical preceptor's ability to effectively teach, evaluate, and mentor nurses within the clinical academy fellowship and residency programs.
Have responsibilities in building and developing the preceptor, clinical manager, and resident/fellow relationship triad.
Have direct interaction, intentional rounding, classroom instruction, coaching, and evaluation.
Contribute to the operations and organization of the clinical academy programs throughout the Oregon region and across the care continuum.
Be responsible to collect and evaluate data sent to the system clinical academy.
Participate in the creation and revision of academy curriculum, evaluate the variety of programs offered, and keep organized the cohorts of residents and fellows.
Provide Leadership and coordination to specialty educators who serve as academy faculty.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's degree in nursing from an approved school of nursing
Current unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Oregon State Board of Nursing
Graduate degree in nursing or related field (However, candidates who exhibit a commitment to obtain a graduate degree in nursing or a related field will also be considered)
3 years of experience in nursing education or leadership
5 years of experience in nursing
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card must be from the following authorized governing bodies: American Heart Association (AHA) – BLS Provider. American Red Cross (ARC) – BLS for Health Care Provider. Military Training Network (MTN) – Healthcare Provider; Upon hire.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
National Certification in area of specialty
Experience as a clinical faculty member
Ability to travel to our various hospital locations
