The William Jennings Bryan Dorn VA Medical Center (VAMC) opened in 1932 at its current location. Dorn VAMC has 204 skilled nursing beds, which includes acute medical, surgical, psychiatric, and long-term care. The hospital provides primary, secondary, and some tertiary care.
Dorn VAMC is a complex teaching hospital, providing a full range of patient care services, with state-of-the-art technology, education, and research. Comprehensive health care is provided through primary care, tertiary care and long-term care in areas of medicine, surgery, psychiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation, cardiology, neurology, oncology, dentistry, geriatrics, and extended care.
Dorn VAMC is accredited by The Joint Commission and by the American College of Surgeons and the Commission on Accreditation for Rehabilitation Facilities. Laboratory and Pathology services are accredited by the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation of the College of American Pathologists.

WJB Dorn VA Medical Center has a current need for a Board Certified Vascular Surgeon to join the surgical team.
The Vascular Surgeon will be responsible any combination of the following: Be responsible for initial evaluation and overall workups, history and physicals, and admission of vascular surgery patients as needed. Serve as a consultant to other medical center staff and trainees and will train medical students, medical residents, and midlevel providers. The ability to obtain an academic appointment with our university affiliate is essential. Surgeon must also be familiar with functions of Vascular Lab and assist in the technical aspects of lab functions, compliance, and maintenance Proficiency in Endovascular Surgery technology and techniques Preferred Board certification in Vascular Surgery. Preferred Certified RVT and Certified RPVI Proficient in endovascular surgery and certification in the interpretation of vascular ultrasound studies.
The Vascular Surgeon will be expected to perform Vascular surgical procedures that would include both endovascular and open procedures, but not be limited to: carotid endarterectomy and vascular procedures of the iliofemoral system and aorta as well as renal dialysis access.
There may, at times, be a requirement for knowledge of general surgical procedures which are not complicated which may include appendectomy, cholecystectomy and herniorrhaphy.
It is estimated that the vascular surgeon's position will be approximately 95% clinical and 5% administrative.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00A.M. - 4:30P.M. with weekend and night coverage, as necessary. Subject to change based on agency need. Functional Statement Title/#: Physician, Vascular Surgeon/544
