Reporting to the Nursing Director and in accordance with departmental and organizational policies, procedures and guidelines, the Nurse Navigator is responsible for Cancer care coordination, including assessing the physical, psychological, and social needs of the patient throughout the continuum of care. Complies with regulatory and professional standards, fosters interdisciplinary collaborative relationships within the department, and works closely with physicians and hospital leaders in establishing a collegial and interdisciplinary patient care environment
Required Licensure and Certification: Current California RN license Current American Heart Association BLS provider card. Certification as a Nurse Navigator preferred or achieved within 1 year of hire. National Certification as an Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred.
Required Experience: Five (5) years current nursing experience with a minimum of one year in an oncology related department required. Knowledge of breast cancer treatments preferred. BSN/Bachelor’s degree in related field may be substituted for 2 years experience MSN/Master’s in related field may be substituted for 3 years experience.
Required Education: Associates of Nursing degree, Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
