Faculty Position -Division of Cancer Predisposition Memphis, TN
St Jude Children’s Research Hospital is a private, not-for-profit institute that is internationally recognized for its commitment to performing cutting edge research and providing state of the art clinical services, with the goal to improve the outcome for children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. St. Jude is the first and only pediatric cancer center to be designated as a Comprehensive Cancer Center by the National Cancer Institute. It is engaged in ongoing expansion of its facilities as well as patient care and scientific research activities.
The Division of Cancer Predisposition is a new Section within the Department of Oncology that aims to optimize the management of children and families with increased genetic risk for cancer. Through integrated clinical, translational and basic research, the Division of Cancer Predisposition will examine the biological and clinical impacts of germline cancer-predisposing mutations and use this knowledge to develop improved surveillance, preventive and therapeutic measures. To facilitate these efforts, we are recruiting a faculty-level investigator at the rank of Assistant or Associate Member (equivalent to the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, respectively, in a traditional medical school/university system). This investigator is encouraged to conduct and will be provided with ample opportunities to interact with faculty within multiple Programs at St Jude and Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. Associations with the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center and the Department of Pediatrics at Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center will provide opportunities for teaching students, residents, and fellows. The vision of the Division of Cancer Predisposition is to serve as a center of excellence for genetic studies of heritable cancers and evaluation of the ethical, psychological and behavioral impacts of childhood genetic testing. Through a multi-disciplinary approach, we also strive to provide unsurpassed medical care to affected children and their families.
Successful candidates will have interests and expertise in cancer predisposition, cancer genomics and/or qualitative research. Candidates should have an M.D, or equivalent degree and be Board certified or Board-eligible in Clinical Genetics, Hematology-Oncology (pediatric or adult), Psychology/Behavioral Medicine or related field. Ph.D. candidates with relevant experience will also be considered. Salaries are competitive and a generous benefit package is included.
