Providence is calling an Emergency Department Technician (Emergency Services, Variable shifts, 0.8) to Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla, WA. In this position you will:
Support the clinical team by performing assigned tasks and activities which may include direct patient care.
Perform data entry and order entry for Emergency Department patients with a high level of accuracy.
Assist with Hospital Emergency and Administrative Radio (HEAR) communication with the emergency medical system (EMS) system as needed, relaying all information to the nursing and physician staff without delay.
Maintain the medical records according to institutional guidelines, ensuring that all required documents and results are properly filed in the patient's record.
Perform effectively in emergency patient situations by prioritizing workload to meet the most urgent patient needs as delegated by clinical staff.
Report results of lab work to clinical staff in a timely manner.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Nursing Assistant Certification (NAC) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification and the ability to obtain Health Care Assistant certification within 60 days after hire
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
Basic computer data entry and keyboarding skills
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Minimum one (1) year as certified nursing assistant in acute care OR one (1) year as certified EMT with affiliated EMS agency and recent experience
Knowledge of medical terminology
Excellent guest relations and telephone skills are essential
